Personality: This girl is as sweet as they come, at least that's what she wants you to think. Growing up in a tough herd environment she learned quickly to say and do anything and everything to make her sire happy, until she met Clyde that is. He took a careful daughter and turned her into a rebel. She likes her stallions, and she like them tough, but she hasn't loved any brute the way she loved Clyde. She's manipulative, cunning, quick witted, and loves to stir things up; if anyone can make a situation worse it's Bonnie.
History: Her birth herd traveled constantly, her sire, Ares, never satisfied with the land they inhabited, but periodically brought more and more mares to enlist in his mob. He called role every morning, expecting every mare, daughter, and son to be standing at attention when he strolled by, thick ebony locks tossled as he lowered his crown, calling out numbers as he trotted by; expecting us to give our names in return. He was handsome, that's why all the mares fell for him so she thought; it wasn't till one day Bonnie asked her dam, Guinevere, how she'd come to living with him that she had recognized a pattern. All the mares had similar stories, "Oh he just came over and swept me off my hooves."... "He crested the hill and I was swept away." Different wording but all so close to the same, it had her wondering.
Quietly slipping away from the herd one night, she followed her father on his quest to find more mares, realizing just what type of stallion he was. He rounded up the mares of a herd not too far away, the leader of the herd Ares was stealing from bleeding onto the earth's face, "Now if anyone from my herd asks how I got you, you tell them I swept you off your hooves. It doesn't matter where or how we met or how I got so many of you to come with me. If you don't do as I say, you'll all end up like that pathetic thing you once called your king." Bonnie's heart raced, how could her sire be so cruel? Backing up quickly, the, then, filly turned to run; only to find a cow standing there; looking menace-fully at her. A screamed burned to come from her throat, but fear muted her, the stallion's incisors clenching her crest and dragging her into the darkness; Ares chasing the mares up the hill and toward the herd moments later. "Let me go! Let me go!" Finally words broke from her speechless mouth, columns flailing as she tried to stand. The stag released his grip, trotting past her to see that the stallion and mares were gone. "Calm down drama queen, I was only protecting you." The brute chuckled as he spoke, turning to make eye contact with the now furious Bonnie. She was standing before he turned to face her, heat rose in her cheeks, temper flaring at his chuckle. "You think it's funny?! And what exactly do you think you were protecting me from?! That's my..." The anger drained from her voice as her sentence stopped abruptly, did she really want others to know that her father raped and pillaged other herds to get mares. Bonnie hadn't realized she'd stepped toward the stallion, almost muzzle to muzzle as she yelled at him. "I'm sorry I've got to go." Turning on her haunches Bonnie headed after her father, the bull trotting up along side her, "Don't be sorry spitfire, my name is Clyde by the way. I like your style. Maybe I'll see you around." With that the charming, somewhat rude, clydesdale brute was gone. The only thing visible in the pitch black was his feathery snow colored braces, the steady sound of his heavy hooves clipping against the still of the morning.
Bonnie raced home, careful not to disturb any of the sleeping horses, folding her pillars neatly next to her mother while she awaited the roaring noise of her sire's nicker; all the while her mind reeled about Clyde. Who was he? Where did he live? How would she find him again? Could she ever find him again? The bellowing of Ares' nicker came sooner than she expected, hopping to her feet, Bonnie quickly made her way to the line. "1..Amber, 2..Sasha, 3..Star, 4..Ginger, 5..Guinevere, 6.." "Shouldn't you know my name.. Dad?" Bonnie's mouth moved faster than her mind, the growing filly regretting the words as they stopped flowing from her velveteen kissers. "Bonnie, I meant Bonnie." The stallion had stopped, eying her from under tangled locks of charcoal, "You watch your tongue girl." The threat acid to her auds, profile dropping her gaze to the ground., "Guinevere, control your spawn." "She's just as much my spawn as yours Ares, I can not control who's persona she inherited." Gasps seemed to echo throughout the land, my mother's orbs held hatred, a fire burning that was about to bust loose. Ares' settled his teeth in the mare's flesh, dragging her to the ground, a carefully placed knee on her boa. "Whatever you're trying to prove here Guine, I'd think again if I were you." All the mares stood, dumbstruck, at the brute that had never shown them any physical harm was now mauling one of their own. Rage bubbled inside Bonnie, the filly lurching forward at the brute, the sound of boulders colliding as the massive draft horses' bodices met. Ares nipped Bonnie, the filly stumbling back as he lifted himself from her mother's crest, "Watch yourself filly. You wouldn't want me to take your life for protecting this worthless wh*re now would you?" Dappled filly stood still, watching her mother's deep chocolate eyes plead for her to step down from the challenge. "Excuse me sir, I was out of line." Crania falling and slate plates backing her into her place in line.
The day went about normally after that, till night fell and Ares disappeared again, he probably wouldn't be returning with other mares; but Bonnie wondered what it was he was up to when he left. Restless, the filly strode through the land they had been settled at the past couple of days, knowing that soon they would be moving again; a strange, but familiar, scent infected her nostrils. Crown swiveling in the other direction, a cow with a wide smile stood behind her, "Drat you caught me." Clyde's melody soft when he spoke. "What are you doing here?!" Bonnie's voice was hushed, pools scolding the brute for being there, but an excited pounding in her gut almost made her queasy. "Well I found a place I thought you'd like to see, come on." With that the handsome mahogany stag turned and trotted in the opposite direction her father had went; boa craning to see if she was following. "Come on slow poke, you ain't got all night. That mean ol daddy of yours will be pissy if you're not back for role call in the morning." A cheeky grin and wink of his amber globes had her feeling whimsical even though he knew about her corrupt origin.
She barely knew him, but yet there she was, right in tow behind him; going to an undisclosed location. He could kill her! Though if he wanted to kill me he would've done it last night... Right? She thought to herself as they moved, trotting for miles, neither making much conversation till they reached the destination. "Here we are." His muzzle drew back the long string of leaves that hung gently from an old willow tree, revealing a small waterfall with a cave nestled behind it. "I found it last night after I rescued you, figured it was a sign from Epona." Curious globes surveyed the lake of crystal water, the low rumble of water cascading down the face of rocks, aged from the years of current against it. "It's beautiful. And you didn't rescue me. I was fine." "Oh yeah, about to be caught by that big dumb brute you are forced to call a father." With that, the massive cow plunged into the lake, completely submerged before he let his crania breached the water; ripples upon ripples disarraying the almost still lake she'd first seen. "What are you doing? Are you crazy?!" "Maybe just a little, come on in, the water is fine." Again a chuckle came from his throat, echoing against the water. "No. I don't feel like dying tonight, thanks." Turning the mare started to walk away, "Oh come on sissy. Have you never swam before?" Seeing she was about to disappear Clyde emerged from the water, loping to her side before shaking the droplets loose from his pelt. "Come on, you'll be just fine." "No thank you Clyde, I'd rather not." "Well I didn't bring you all the way out here so you could turn around and go back." "Clyde, what are you doing?" "Getting you in that lake." "Clyde stop, seriously stop!" He didn't say another word as he pushed her back toward the watering hole, though both draft horses he had the upper hand. She stood on the edge, pleading for him to stop between giggles, "Now Bonnie, you can either go in or I'm pushing you in. And that's that. No ifs, ands, or buts about it." "Clyde stop!" "Ok, in you go." With that, the brute pushed his chest into her, the mare's body making a smacking sounds as she hit the water. Sinking at first before instinct took over and had her head above water again, "You... *cough cough*.. Ass! *cough cough*" A satisfied chuckle erupted from his kissers, "Oh calm down sissy." Leaping into the lake himself, with a splash, Clyde swam over to the struggling mare. "Just calm down, let your body do what feels natural." Swimming circles around her mass, "1,2,3,4, 1,2,3,4. There you go." They two swam for a while, sending water flying toward one another with powerful hooves and muzzles, giggles and throatily chuckles in the still of the night.
It was if it was all a dream, Bonnie returned to her herd well before role call would be made, her ass of a father not yet back. She'd had fun, Clyde was an interesting brute to say the least, they didn't even barely know one another and there they were, out gallivanting the night away. Shutters closed as the mare dozed happily along side her dam, a smile still plastered to her maw as she thought about her night with Clyde.
The bellowing came earlier than normal, startling the mare, optics peeling open to see that everyone wasn't in line, Ares was herding them; they were moving again. A sigh of despair vented from her kissers, she would never see Clyde again, water welling in her pools; cardiac muscle seemed to be ripped from it's cavity. She knew this would come, her mind told her pillars to move though her heart told them to stay, hesitant steps plodded lightly against the surface as she her inner conflict tried to reason with her. "You don't have to go with him. Since when did you start playing by the rules little miss puppet?" The voice she thought should have been inside her head was real, and masculine. Turning her attic, his majestic structure came into view, it was Clyde! "What... what are you doing here?" Her voice a low, excited, rumble, but frightened pools searched for her father. "Here to rescue you again cupcake, don't you know a knight in shining armor when you see one?" She chuckled this time, his odd metaphors and cunning wits more and more appealing to her. Ares halted when the rank odor of another stallion reached his muzzle, strides determined as he loped fiercely in their direction. "Clyde go. Please. I don't want him to hurt you." "Pssh, Bonnie please, I'm a grown stallion. I can handle my own." Ares' stern gaze had the mare almost quivering, "Who are you and what are you doing here? With my daughter no less... Bonnie go on to the herd. Now." The authoritativeness in his voice had her stunned as she walked slowly, Clyde's tone simple and quiet as he replied. "Bonnie doesn't want to go with you Ares, and she doesn't have to." "Oh yes she most certainly does. Boy get out of here while you still can." "Is that a threat sir?" "No son, that is a promise." Clyde's tone changed with the next phrase, it boomed, even taking Ares back a bit, "Then I suggest you keep your promise stag, because I can promise you that Bonnie will leave if it is her will. Bonnie, do you wish to stay here? Under the rule of an unfit coward that thinks of himself as a king?" Her voice trembled, she knew what would come of this if she said no, but she couldn't make herself say otherwise. "No, I don't wish to stay here." Everything, every equine, was still, her voice barely heard as Ares' molars ground together in the rear of his maw. The heavily muscled ink stag took a leap at Clyde, though the clydesdale stood a hand or more taller than him Ares was set on having Bonnie; Clyde's coffee colored body unmoved. With a single swift movement, Clyde had pushed Ares over and placed a knee on his barrel and one on his boa, incisors pulling at the flesh on the coal brute's cheek. "Bonnie go now, to where I took you last night. I'll meet you there." She made out the slightest bit of every word, the carapace muffling his speech, but columns fled. She zig zagged, rubbing her scent on every tree in the wrong direction she could, hoping that by doing that Ares couldn't find them, all the while her mind playing what she knew would be happening to Clyde.
She'd been at the lake for hours, so it seemed, waiting and praying that Clyde was alright optics scanning every which way they could trying to spot him. The salty, coppery, scent of blood assaulted the air, tickling the cilia within her nasal passages, heart thundering in her chest as the stallion came into view. "Oh Clyde! I'm so sorry, I didn't want this to happen to you." Sprinting toward him, she buried her face in his coal colored tassels, inspecting his body for wounds as she became more collected. Thin, deep gashes ran along his barrel, a few littered his neck, and bite marks disarrayed his haunches; blood seeping from all of them, "Oh Clyde..." Her voice unsettled and rocky, "Oh hush princess, you should see him." His light-hearted chuckle never seemed to fade, the heavy brute stepping into the water. Ruby plasma dyed the water if only for a moment, Bonnie's orbs moist with tears, "Thank you Clyde. You shouldn't have had to do that for me." "No thanks needed Bonnie, you were unhappy and I wanted to fix that. I thought you were happy when you were with me." "Oh I am Clyde." A grin covering her face as the brute came to the end of the water where she stood, nuzzling her chest lovingly. "I meant to ask you... What is Epona?" Curiosity drenching her pools, as she awaited a response. "Epona is the goddess of horses. At least that's what my mother used to tell me." Bonnie nodded in reply, the goddess of horses.
Clyde was soon healed, the pair talked, argued, horse played, and just about everything else together; never leaving one an others side for more than a few moments. They centered their land around that lake and waterfall, finding peace there in it's steady flow, raising as much hell as they could with other herds nearby. Clyde would kill snakes, Bonnie would take them and drop them near other horses, frightening mares and stallions alike; giving the pair a good chuckle and would spring forth new ideas for tricks to play. Till Bonnie turned for four, the pair had no worries, no fears, no plans for the future; they lived in the moment and they loved life that way. Bonnie grazed along the banks of the lake, waiting for Clyde to return with preparations for their newest trick, when the stench of a stallion wafted through the air; it was Ares. Soldiers fell from the front lines, molding to her skull, a panicked nicker emitting from her velvet lips, "What are you doing here father?" Her tone was sharp and nasty, globes narrowed to slits as she anxiously waited for Clyde to return. She noticed a scar above his right eye, that must have been from Clyde, lowering her gaze to his pillars as she heard him speak. "I'm here to take you home dear, and kill that brute you ran off with." "You'll have to go through me before you'll get to him" "With pleasure dear." He moved quickly, coming at her like a freight train, Bonnie held her ground; shutters pulled tight as she heard the clash of muscle but her hooves still planted on the ground. Peeking slowly, Clyde was there, fighting her father yet again. "Go Bonnie, run. As fast as you can, I'll find you again." "But Clyde..." "Bonnie go!" Her feathered hooves took to a gallop, muscles churning and she pushed her body faster and faster, other horses running up behind her auds pinned and teeth bared. Digging in deeper, Bonnie ran at her max pace, leaving the two studs in the dust; attic turning to see where they were. The brutes were heading back toward Clyde and Ares, Bonnie's pools dripping tears as she barreled on; leaving Clyde up against three stallions.
She ran till she couldn't anymore, legs shaking from the strain, lungs burning as she tried to steady her breathing; tears still pouring down her cheeks. She'd left him alone, to fend for himself, she should have stayed; he was probably dead now because of her. And she was here, in the land she'd heard whispered amongst other horses, here in Living Paradise.
