A lonely search {open}

Black Diamond had broke away from her friend Legend and wanted to search for a permanent home. She trotted into the Peaceful Meadows, hoping to find someone there to talk to and maybe a stallion to give her a home and maybe a family. She slowed down and looked up at the tall redwood trees and walked towards the smell of the water. She was parched from her long traveling and picked up her pace to reach the water. When she did reach it she dropped her head and took a drink. When she lifted her head she looked around and looked for a spot to rest. She decided to explore some more before she rested to make sure no one was hiding and then ambush her. She turned towards the open meadow and walked towards it. She stood on the edge of the forest and looked around. When she was satisfied she turned and when she did she saw a cave and decided to go in it and lay down. She sighed and her lids slowly fell closed and she drifted off to a deep sleep.

Dusty smiled, he knew Mist could handle him being away from a little while, but not for to long though. Getting into a trot, he soon caught a scent. Nickering to let the mare know he was not going to mean any harm to her, he slowed his pace to a walk. Seeing her, she smiled and stopped. "hello, I am Dusty, or you can call me Dust." he said, but he soon heard hoofbeats. Turning, he smiled and shook his black mane. "and this is my daughter Mist." he said as the golden paint filly came to his side. "Yup, he took me in when I was wondering alone and had all the stallions after me." she said with a smile as she nuzzled her adopted father.

Black Diamond woke up when she heard a whinny and saw a stallion standing in front of her. She got up and shook herself off then looked at the stallion. "Hello Dust. I am Black Diamond, but you can call me Diamond." she replied and smiled when the filly came to her adopted father. "Well Mist, I'm glad to meet you." she said smiling at the filly. She wondered where this stallion lived and hoped this might be her ticket to a herd and a home. She shook her mane and snorted from all the dust. "Where do you come from?" she asked turning her gaze back to the stallion.

Dust smiles and nuzzle Mist but she had answered for him, "We have a land in the grass lands. But so far it is just us Diamond." she said. Dust nodded. "It is true, and I think Mist here wants someone other than a old stallion to have some fun with. Do you have any place?" he asked. "Seems awful dangerous for someone to be out without anyone or anywhere to go." Tuning to Mist, who had went off for a playful run, he shook his mane, "Mist, be careful,"he called out to her. "You worry to much." was her only reply. "Seems strange for a stallion to adopt a yearling filly as a daughter, isn't it?" he asked Diamond.

Diamond smiled. She liked this stallion and held out her muzzle. "No I don't have any place. It probably is." she said smiling as the filly trotted off. "I don't think its silly. I would adopt a young one if I had to." she said. "Does she feel lonely her being the only yearling?" Diamond asked hoping to find a home with him and the filly. She had grown to love the foal.

Dusty nodded and turned to keep an eye on his trouble making filly. "If you wish for a place, you are welcomed to come with us." he said as he returned his attention to Diamond and soon reach out to touch her muzzle. "But yes, Mist is lonely with just me and her; she is a fun loving filly who wants more horses to have fun with." he added.

Diamond smiled as she heard Dust's reply. "I accept whole-heartedly, that is if Mist wants me too." she said looking over at the filly, She was glad she had found a home at last. She hoped the filly would accept her and she had a feeling she would.

Dust smiled. "Mist, come here." he called and watched as the filly came racing around the trees and right to them. Dusty just shook his head and let a sigh as he lowered himself to the ground, knowing that Mist was going to try to jump over him while he was standing. Lowering his head, he laughed as the filly leaped over him. Getting up, he again shook his head and sighed. "Mist, be good, I mean it. Diamond wanted to know if you accept her into our homeland, into our herd." Dust asked her. Mist smiled as she came over to Dust's side and nuzzled him. "Sure, the more, the better." she said as she looked over to Diamond. "I would love to not be the only filly or mare anymore."

Diamond smiled and shook her mane. "Well then its official. Shall we go?" she asked. She stood beside the filly and nuzzled her mane. She was glad she was going to have a home and hoped it would be forever. She also hoped she could give the filly a friend to play with, but that was later on. For now she was happy to have a home.

Dusty nudged Mist ahead of him and watched her bounce ahead of them. "Well I guess we follow Mist. She seems like she knows the way pretty well already." he said, laughing as his adopted daughter glanced over her shoulder at him and shook her head just to take off. Smiling at Diamond, he said, "She seems to really be excited not to be the only on in our family."

Diamond smiled. "Yes she does at that." she said. She followed them happy that she finally had a home.
