Rain sighed as she could barely see through the snow and she looked back at Dream who was trying to keep up. "Rain, I think there is a cave ahead." Dream called. Rain turned and saw what Dream was talking about. "Follow me Dream." she called back. They both made their way to the cave and sighed as they were now safe and sound without snow hitting them. Rain looked around and shook the remaining snow off herself. "Rain, where are we?" Dream asked. Rain ventured in a little deep, scenting the air. "There is a stallion who has been here." she said. she could feel that Dream had stiffened a little.

x from the mere smell of things and the faint rumbles, he knew a blizzard was on its way. normally in this kind of weather, he would be out. the way the snow was able to chill to the bone appalled him - he admired the skill of nature. large frame covered in thick muscle kept self warm enough. but the hulk was in an odd mood today. the term was not sulking, but was a close relative. perhaps more like... relishing his own abode? where individuals were too fond of their own necks to bother him. he was not in typical place; chest-high in the lake. nay, in fact he lay upon a spot of moss near the entrance. however, large frame was extremely well hidden by both the blackness of the place and several large rocks that were roommates. feathered appendages were tucked neatly beneath, and the thought crossed mind to take a nap. but then familiar faint clicks found auds. dial was raised. the clicks were steady and soon enough grew louder. not only was someone on his property, but it seemed they had the nerve to traverse within. this could get interesting.
xx in a matter of moments chassis was elevated, and the beast filled out nineteen hands monstrously. oddly, he was not pissed by the intrusion. perhaps the snow had put him in a good mood? perhaps. thick flag o'war flicked itself absent-mindly as frame turned to walk up the narrow ledge that was the obvious entrance to lair. though the shire was a large specimen, he moved about rather quietly. not so silently as to speculate caution, rather confidence. from the sound of things the trespassers had paused in their intrusion (the smell of things led to the gender fact). their voices echoed down to him as clearly as if they spoke right in front of him. a small smirk plastered itself onto features at their words. a stallion who has been here?. darlings, that stallion is still very much on site. count your lucky stars he won't pound your head in for trespassing.
xxx Logan reached the top and meandered his way around a bend in the rock. he was quite far back in the cavern, and with his coat coloring blended in quite well. though yes, his blaze and stockings did hint at his existence, had someone not been paying attention he could've gone unnoticed. the two females were painted in appearance, and stuck out like sore thumbs. it was obvious they sought shelter from the storm outside; in all honesty his lair was a good choice. it stayed warm in the winter and cool in the summer. but still, breaking rules? tsk tsk.
xxxx dark ooids watched the femmes as silently as ever - he must be nothing more than a shadow. the mares were still quite young; one more obviously so than the other. and so short! he could have crushed them like insects... but perhaps this could get interesting. but after a few moments of silence he made himself known. frame came forward, to within about five feet from the duo. yellow eyes glared at them, and ears pinned in sockets. he was no gracious host. in a chillingly empty voice -that was somehow still throbbing with power, lyrics hit the atmosphere
It was a fool choice to trespass minxes. Give me a good reason to let you live.

Dream and Rain both spun at the sudden voice. Dream had turned and hid behind Rain, but it was Rain who went forward and lowered her head. "We mean no harm, we just wish for a place to rest and wait out the storm if you wish for us not to be here." was all she said. She flicked her ears back at Dream who was the skittish one out of the two. Lifting her head, Rain watched the stallion, she was some how interested in this stallion, he was larger than any other stallion she had seen in her life. Dream sighed and walked up closer to Rain, she knew that the other mare would not let anything happen to them. It was a trust thing since stallions always made her skittish even more than she was. She watched the stallion, but kept flicking her eyes down as to not stare at him for to long. things were always more difficult when it came to her, she had to find ways around her fears and not let them get the better of her. "I am Painted Dream and this is my half sister Painted Rain." Dream stuttered out softly.

x an aud came forward when one of the mares stepped forward and took on the speaking role of the two. after she had spoken, he remained silent. he did nothing more than stare, looking over the two females without even trying to hide what he was doing. he was king here, rest assured he knew that and acted as such. the talkative one eyed him too, though more out an curiosity than anything. yes, he could be something to gawk at. there weren't many creatures this large that were not bulky and still retained some finesse. attention diverted to the tobiano when she decided to speak. it was stuttering and over-flowing with fear, but still he said nothing. after about a minute of silence, massive limbs ushered in some movement. he half-circled them; eyes daring them to make a move. he came to a stop by the entrance; blocking them from leaving. Logan then turned frame so that he was facing them once again.
xx ah, what to do with the intruders? he could care less that they sought sanctuary from the storm. there were trees. there were other tiny caves dotting the landscape. they should have smelled him and left before he was able to approach. maybe they'd learn from their mistakes. maybe not. they meant no harm? ha. it would take a lot more than two young fillies to put any sort of hurt on him.
Whether you mean harm or not, it was still foolish to come here. And it matters not now; you can go on downstairs until I figure out what I want do with you.
xxx he said nothing more; but ears were again pinned and serpentine arched. teeth were bared and he began moving toward them, herding them down into the darkness. if they didn't move he had no qualms dragging them down, but if they raced off into the blackness they'd likely trip and fall over the narrow ledge. let's see with the mares did with their choice

Being reasonable one out of the two, Rain started off at a slow and steady pace, feeling her way around with Dream following close behind her. "As you wish." was all Rain had said. Rain knew that without her, Dream would be a mess without her and right now, she needed to keep her cool for the both of them. "Dream, deep breath and move ahead of me." Rain said as she stopped to let Dream go in front of her. "Thanks Rain." she said. Rain did a touch to let her know she was still behind Dream, but Rain's ears flicked back to the stallion, listening to his every move.

x mind was puzzled over what to do with them. he wasn't one to go planting his seed everywhere; those days were behind him. to be chosen to bear his offspring was a privilege. he'd have to keep a close eye on them; if they so much as tasted the sweet moss he'd kick it out of them. it was a precious commodity to him down here and no way were some intruders going to savor it.
xx his daughter Lydella was down here, somewhere. he had seen her yesterday evening; but not since. him and her didn't really talk all that much; if anything they exchanged acknowledged glances. at first impression she was probably seen as a prisoner. he wanted her to stick around, but it wasn't through force. he protected her, gave her shelter and provided food, so she stayed. she was allowed to leave, but had become quite the hermit like her sire.
xxx as the three of them came to the bottom of the ledge, he moved his massive frame closer to the mares; close enough to reach a few inches forward and take a chunk out of a behind if he saw fit. however he didn't particularly feel like tasting their hides, but did let his breath be felt as a reminder for how close he was. anyway, he motioned with crown to the other end of the large underground cavern. though the place really was quite pretty -almost magical-, with him as its' own all charmed aspects vanished. for the night they would be confined to a small cave at the far end, somewhat secluded. he knew inside it was so dark you could barely see. there was no soft moss to lay upon. closest thing to a cell mother nature could provide.
Move it. The last opening on your left will be your chamber for the evening.
xxxx the giant beast stopped following them, but kept his eyes and ears to make sure they went where they were told. he would return normal activity when they reached their resting place. if you could call it a resting place. the accommodations were far from his finest.

Rain ushered Dream in and turned to the stallion and lowered her head in respect. "Thank you." was all she said and followed Dream in. Once alone with Dream, Rain could see that she was more relaxed and was now resting peacefully. Looking at where she had left the stallion, she soon decided to place herself in front of the entrance of the 'chamber', but she did not lay down, more than that, she stood guard all night, keeping her sister feeling safe.

x the night was a cold, quiet one; nothing unusual for a mid-winter night. the giant behemoth of a stallion returned to his former post at the bottom of the rocky descent to rest on a soft moss bed. he seriously doubted the paint mares would try anything; they seemed the type to be content to follow orders the rest of their life. part of him wondered if he'd even continue letting them breathe his air. he was not a typical stallion - he didn't want the largest herd, the most offspring; any of that. those who he chose/tolerated to share his living quarters with were worthy of such things. he didn't want to have to babysit these two as they waited to move an inch by his command. but who knows, maybe time would tell. for a few days at least he would keep them as near prisoners for trespassing; the beast was quite protective.
xx the lighting changes that came with the dawn shone through the hole in the chamber. it had been an uneventful night and Logan had been up for a few hours already. in the dim lighting he could hear Lydella sigh back in her chambers; she had just woken up and was stretching. a short while before sunrise he had entered his lake and had been somewhat saturating in it for the past two hours. the stallion's belly was just brushed by the gentle water levels beneath, his long tail floating on the surface. when serpentine reached for a drink, mane was half-way soaked in the aqua. twin towers swiveled in their sockets, deciding on if the two paints had woken up yet.

Rain was up before Dream was and she had heard the stallion leave. Instead of getting up to go out, she had gotten up and once again blocked the entrance and exit, just in case anyone would have come to get them they would be met by her and not Dream. Sighing Rain stretched her aching legs and shook her body. She could feel the movement of Dream and smiled to herself. "It's alright Dream, I'm right here." Reaching out, she gently laid her muzzle against Dream's flank and felt her soon relax more. "I wonder when the stallion will come and let us know what he is going to do." she said. Rain shook her mane and said, "He is up and out of this cave, but I won't dare go out until he comes here. You just relax and settle down now." she said to her sister. Nuzzling her once more, she turned to the entrance of where they were and waited.

x the water dripped into the cavern slowly, constantly. must mean it's already above freezing up there. surely winter was coming to an end soon. this was probably the last major snowfall they'd receive. beast shook his mane, and some droplets went flying. the water was remarkably warm. twin towers heard the trespassers stirring from their slumber, and caught bits of muffled talking coming from their chamber. he remained where he was, but mouth parted and his deep baritone lyrics hit his chamber.
Come out.
xx inky silhouette slowly turned and began exiting the water. massive limbs were strikingly white against the dark backdrop. he made sure to face the chamber from where they would exit, though they had about a 30 yard walk before they reached himself.

Rain was the first to come out. Not knowing where the stallion actually was, Rain simply called out, "So have you decided anything about us?" she asked as her sister walked out to stand behind her. She waited for his answer, standing tall and proudly with Dream behind her. Now Dream, was unlike her sister, she couldn't stand tall and proud like Rain could, but then again Dream had been through more than Rain had in her life. Keeping quiet was one way Dream had learned to survive in a world like the wild one. She was thankful that she had Rain with her most of the time because if she wasn't with her, Dream would have been dead by now.
